About PT-141
PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a cyclic heptapeptide melanocortin agonist built on an Ac-Nle-cyclo(Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys)-NH2 scaffold, a modification of the alpha-MSH sequence designed for receptor subtype selectivity and stability. Its cyclic, lactam-bridged structure confers resistance to aminopeptidases and favors interaction with melanocortin receptors, particularly MC4R. Researchers employ PT-141 in receptor-binding studies, cAMP signaling assays, structure-activity comparisons across melanocortin subtypes, and behavioral models of melanocortin circuit function in experimental animals. The constrained ring structure makes synthesis demanding: incorrect cyclization, epimerization at histidine or phenylalanine, or incomplete acetylation and amidation can each produce close-mass impurities that co-elute under standard conditions. Shandong Shengyuan therefore applies orthogonal purity analysis, including RP-HPLC at 99.3% or higher and high-resolution LC-MS, to confirm both covalent structure and stereochemical integrity. Supplied lyophilized for research use only; not intended for human or veterinary use.
